junior Swell

Have the confidence to play 360°.

Created for cricketers who want an equal level of performance on the front and back foot.

The Swell's shape allows for an outstanding pickup with optimum performance in the centre of the blade. The spine peaks in the middle of the hitting zone with sufficient willow carrying through to the toe allowing for excellent weight distribution and performance.

This shape will transform the way you play. The exceptional pickup enables you to generate quicker hand speed and have more control over your shots.

CONSTRUCTION

This bat conforms to MCC Law 5 bat regulations, which means that the bat needs will fit through an approved bat gauge with maximum dimensions of 108mm in blade width, 67mm in spine height with 40mm edges

Spine & Edge

You can expect the edge and spine to peak in the centre of the hitting zone. The edge and spine height will differ based on the weight & size you select, plus the density of the willow used. However, the edge will be between 34mm & 40mm and the spine between 60mm & 67mm.

Bow & Face

Our 3-stage pressing technique generates a balanced bowed blade to deliver increased power and control. Our modern flat face allows for enhanced shot placement. The edges are boned (hardened) to strengthen and decrease the chance of cracking.

Profile
Semi-Concaved

The profile refers to the amount of scallop between the edge and spine. The Swell has a semi-concaved to full profile, equivalent to scalloping between 0mm and 4mm. This differs based on the weight, size you select, and the density of the willow used.

handle shape
semi-oval

The semi-oval handle is our most popular choice as it gives you the best of both styles. It allows for a consistent and comfortable feel for most batsmen. The semi-oval shape on the bottom hand also gives the bat a better directional feel & means that the bottom hand isn't dominant, enabling the top hand to control the shot.

Toe Shape
Semi-Round

The semi-round toe is our most popular choice, which is why it's used on all of our pre-made bats. It assists you in sliding your bat into the crease and removes the vulnerable corners of a square toe

HOW OUR MADE TO ORDER BATS ARE MADE

Each cricket bat willow tree is grown in the UK for around 20 years before being processed & into raw clefts. The clefts then get sent to Meerut, India.

Our high-quality Singapore Manu cane & cork cane handles are made in Jalandhar. The handles then get sent to Meerut for splicing into our clefts. The clefts are then machined and go through our three-stage pressing process, which maximises the potential performance of each piece of willow.

The bats are then shipped to New Zealand, where they are given a final grade, shaped by hand and finished to your chosen specifications. We trust in our process, which allows you to walk to the crease with confidence, knowing that you're using a premium product that will perform under pressure.

Bat weight

The general rule is light bats for the controlled players and slightly heavier bats for the aggressive and attacking stroke-makers.

Heavier bats have a slower bat speed than lighter bats. The effort required to move the bat increases as the weight of the bat increases. A lighter bat will allow faster bat speed and increase the chance of middling the ball. A heavier bat will not be comparatively easy to middle the ball with, but it will stay hit when you connect with it.

Light: We recommend this weight range if you are of a slimmer build but within the recommended height. Sometimes a standard weight can feel too heavy, and it's essential to have a bat that you can control and feel confident using.

Standard: If you're of a standard build for your height, this range is an excellent balance between bat speed and bat performance. It also allows for a regular weight increase of 2oz -3oz when moving to the next size.

Heavy: Heavy bats will reduce your hand speed and may affect your ability to time the ball consistently. This weight range is for players who want to score their runs through boundaries and want a large and imposing bat.

Grip Texture

Dynamite

Essentially a pyramid grip, with hundreds of mini pyramids across the grip. The bottom hand is banded to create a thicker grip with simple pyramids on the top hand.

Chevron

Add some stability to the grip on your cricket bat with the popular chevron cricket bat grip alternating bars (of approx 3cm width) of diagonally raised grooves.

Scale

The surface is covered in hundreds of half-moons, all facing the same direction, giving a texture resembling fish scales or snakeskin, generally considered one of the best texture for the bond between bat and gloves.

Premium junior english willow
Junior g1-ew

Junior grade 1 willow produces excellent performing cricket bats. Often heartwood can be seen on the edge of these bats. This does not affect the playing ability of the bat; it is purely cosmetic. There will be at least four straight grains on the face of the bat with maybe some blemishes, pin knots or "speck" visible.

The willow won't look exactly the same as the picture, as it's a natural product. When placing your order, select 'Yes, please' in the 'Send pictures of willow options' section if you're looking for a specific grain structure. We will then email you options once we receive your order. If there isn't an option you like, we will refund your order.
