Give your new cricket bat the best start to life with a Fantail knocking in service We offer a comprehensive knocking in service combining hand knocking with our state of the art Smart Knocking in Machine.

PROCESS:

  1. We apply a coat of linseed oil. Linseed oil helps the cricket bat to retain its own moisture and reduces the rate of cracking due to allowing the fibres to stretch rather than crack.
  2. The knocking process starts with the edges and toe of the bat we do this by hand using a wooden mallet as these are the weakest and most vulnerable areas of the bat.
  3. It then moves on to our Smart Knock knocking in machine. Which does all that a human can do but better as it has complete control of each strike with placement and power. It works its way slowly up and down the blade while moving across the blade simultaneously. Your bat will receive over 20,000 knocks during our service. 
  4. Once the knocking is complete we then move onto applying any optional extras you've ordered.
  5. Once your bat has been knocked in it then needs to be worked in over a few net sessions with an old ball before you use it in a game 

PLEASE NOTE:

  • There is no warranty on non Fantail branded bats that have been knocked in by us.
  • All facings/edge tape will need to be removed before our knocking in period starts. If the bat is new then we will remove it free of charge. You will need to purchase a new facing if you'd like one to be applied once the knocking in the process is complete as we can't reuse facings.
  • It's not uncommon for bats to develop small surface cracks during our knocking in process. If they do occur we will seal and fix the cracks for no additional charge.

This is our return shipping calculator. Please do not mistake this for the quantity of services you're ordering.

As bats often require more than one service we can't calculate the return shipping based on one bat per service. Please only answer this question once per order (unless you are sending in more than 5 bats). 

EXAMPLE:

You are sending two bats in for servicing. One needs a handle replacement and a minor crack repair the other a full refurbishment.

The correct answer to the question is "2"

If you selected 2 for all three services our checkout will calculate that you're sending 6 bats in for repair. So please only answer this once per order.

To get a shipping quote add the items you would like to purchase to your cart and proceed to the checkout. Our system will calculate the best shipping rates available based on your delivery address, order weight and order value.

Additional charges by customs must be borne by you; we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Customs policies vary widely from country to country. If you are unsure of these, you should contact your local customs office for further information. Customs forms for all international packages list the value of your order's contents.

Click, Drop & collect allows you to place your order through our website, drop your bat/s off to our store then collect your bat/s from our Auckland store when the work is complete.

Is this option available under Auckland's level 3 Covid-19 lockdown?
Yes, we have a contactless drop-off/collection point outside the front door of our auckland store.

How do I select store collection?
Proceed to the checkout of our website with the items you'd like to purchase in your cart, you will then be offered a delivery method of "Ship" or "Pick up". Select "Pick up" then proceed with your payment details.

During what times will Click, Drop & Collect be open?
Click, Drop & Collect will run as per our regular store opening hours.

Is the Click, Drop & Collect option free?
Yes, our contactless Click and Collect is completely free.

How will I know my order is ready for collection?
We will email you when your order is ready for you to collect.
